Hi,everybody,my name is Jim,new in this forum.
I try to study the GL Lloyd for boats up to 24m and I met some unclear points. On page 1-4,table1.1, in the column of (Hull area) shell bottom (> 0.4L+fore)&(<0.4L+aft), I do not understand what those two expresions in parenthesis mean.
Can somebody make it more clear to me please?
Jim.

I don't have the rules here, but I think they mean the zones within the 40% of L both forwards and astern. Makes it sense?

Cheers.

Guillermo, thanks for your reply, your answer makes sense, you made it clear to me, so I can use this expression in the right way for doing further calculations as I study the GL rules.

Jim,

It means that for the area from 0.4L to fore you should use the formulea on that row and for the area from 0.4L to aft you should use the formulea in that row.

the next question is going to be, where does L start,I couldn't find it in the rules, but start at the aft intersection of the waterline and hull or from the rudder stock.

By the way, class societies don't bit, it pays to give them a call.
