No record of a 3.4 I/O. Mercury does however make a 3.4L V/6 Outboard. Back in the 1970,s & 80,s Mercruiser made a 224 cu in , (3.67L) 4 Cylinder which used a Ford 429 V/8 Head. Also currently made is a 3.0 chevy 4 cylinder I/O? Could the 3.4 be 4.3 which is a chevy V6 I/O?

I didn't go that far- I found a 3.4l online, so I hoped that would help. However, I have never heard of the block in a boat, maybe since all smallblock Chevys have the same bell housing bolt pattern, this guy you bought it from just put whatever he had available in the boat?

A chevy with a Ford head?? Wow, you learn something new every day!

I never heard of a Chevy with a Ford Head either. The Mercruiser 165 (224 cu in) However did have a 429 Ford Head. It was a custom Non-automotive Engine. Don't know what Bell Housing patern was used. Officersdr, How many cylinders does your motor have?
